JYC numbers for 2007

Our annual statistics for the past year have just been complied. The number of JYC's in Europe is down from 345 (2006) to 314 (2007). The number of young people attending JYC's is also down from 4425 (2006) to 4320 (2007)! (This may be due to more accurate figures being submitted this year.)
We now have 8 countries with 10 or more JYC's! 26 countries with only a very few number of JYCs and 10 countries with no JYC ministry.
  1. Romania 73
  2. Russia 54
  3. Ireland 39
  4. Ukraine 28
  5. Germany 14
  6. Switzerland 14
  7. Poland 10
  8. Slovakia 10
Continue to pray with us that God would be pleased to use us to see this ministry grow in the coming years.

  1. Why do they reckon the number of JYC's are down? Is it a need for volunteers or just getting harder to get kids in europe to attend?

By God's grace it'd be great to see this ministry explode and many millions more kids hearing of Jesus! Hope you's see God's hand at work in this over this year.

  2. Hi Boaly,
gathering statistics like this from all over Europe is a mamout task and it is difficult to verify the accuracy. We have more work to do on this in general to make sure there are proper definitions for each of the statistical categories.
For example, many churches across Europe are using our material in their youth meetings but they are not officially a CEF JYC meeting. Such a meeting would not be included in our statistics as a JYC in Europe. Perhaps in the future we can have a category for 'number of churches using material' or 'number of manuals sold'.
I agree that this is a ministry that, by God's grace, in the next few years, could really explode. The key to this is going to be getting our full time workers in Europe to do more to promote both our literature and training programmes. However I do sympathize with them, that they are trying to keep so many plates spinning at the same time and simply cannot devote the time to this that we would like them to.
I also think that another way to promote this in the future is to pray for at least one CEF worker who would be a dedicated youth challenge worker in each country.
Thanks for posting to my blog and for contributing to the discussion in this way. I too appreciate your blog. Thanks
